Impax Asset Management wins Global Pensions Specialist Equity award

Award recognises increased appeal of environmental sector to institutional investors

Impax Asset Management, the environmental investment specialist, scooped the 'Specialist Equity Manager of the Year' award at last night's Global Pensions Awards 2011, rounding off a highly successful year for the firm.

The award highlights increasing interest from institutional investors in the environmental sector and follows a significant expansion of Impax's business managing capital on behalf of pension funds around the world.

Ian Simm, Founder and Chief Executive, Impax Asset Management said:

"Winning 'Specialist Equity Manager of Year' is a landmark in Impax's history.  Pension funds and other institutional investors increasingly recognise the opportunity to harness superior returns by investing in rapidly expanding environmental markets.  Over the past twelve months, changing weather patterns, a high and rising oil price and the announcement of ambitious targets by governments around the world have further strengthened prospects for these markets.

"Impax now has a long and successful track record of managing environmental markets funds and of demonstrating that investments in this area are suitable for mainstream investors who are looking for alpha generating products to complement core global equities.  We now have 15 pension fund clients including the Environment Agency Pension Fund in the UK, Local Government Super in Australia and LD Pension Fund in Denmark."
